In this article, I’m writing about how I made a swiveling, single-seat power recliner my desk companion. I’d used power recliners before, so I knew they reclined automatically at the push of a button. But I didn’t know swiveling ones existed. I thought one might work well paired with my desk, so I bought a single-seat model. Here are my honest impressions of how it fit into my routine, its plush comfort and texture, and even how it affected my work.

Here’s my conclusion up front: this has exactly what I was looking for—the feature I’d always felt a sofa should have. It honestly makes me wonder why this wasn’t a thing before, and now that I own one, I can’t imagine giving it up. According to the product page, it’s a single-seat recliner with a powered backrest and footrest, and it can swivel with someone seated in it.

Swiveling and Reclining Made It My Blissful Space

When I’m working, I sit facing my desk. When I get tired, I press a button and recline right where I am. When it’s time to get up, I swivel the recliner from facing the desk to facing sideways, then step out. Being able to make this “facing the desk → turning sideways to get up” transition naturally is what makes the swivel design so useful, and it fit into my routine almost immediately. For someone like me who uses a desk and recliner together, this is exactly how I’d always wanted a sofa to move. According to the product page, the buttons on the inside of the armrest control the backrest and footrest independently, and the recliner can lean back as far as 145°.

Plush Comfort and a Leather-Like Feel

The seat is soft and plush, and honestly, it’s incredibly comfortable. The upholstery’s refined texture gives it an upscale feel. According to the product page, the upholstery is made from a material called “Prime Leathertex” that has the look and feel of leather. The listing also says the seat is built with molded urethane foam and S-springs.

I Started Getting More Work Done

Before, I’d start working only to get sick of it almost immediately, switch to something else, or get up partway through. Honestly, that made the things I absolutely had to finish take forever to get done. Since I started using this recliner, I’ve gotten noticeably more work done—I can clearly tell the difference myself.

I’ve even fallen asleep right there in the recliner and woken up the next morning. That’s how comfortable it is.

Summary

Once I paired a swiveling power recliner with my desk, reclining at the push of a button when I’m tired and turning sideways when I get up became a natural part of my routine. I love the plush comfort and the high-quality upholstery with its leather-like look and feel, too. I’ve also gotten a lot more work done since I started using it, and for me, it’s now a desk companion I can’t imagine giving up.
