How I Handed Floor Cleaning Over to a Robot Vacuum

In this article, I’ll share what it’s been like to leave floor cleaning to a robot vacuum and how it’s reduced both the time I spend cleaning and how often I do it myself. For sticky residue and other grime on the floor, I use its mopping feature instead of relying on vacuuming alone. It also automatically washes the mop, which is convenient.

To get right to the point, I spend dramatically less time cleaning and clean far less often myself. Even so, my floors stay very clean. According to the product page, it supports both vacuuming and mopping, with 30,000Pa of suction power.

I Spend Less Time Cleaning and Do It Less Often, but My Floors Stay Clean

For me, the time I spend cleaning the floors has dropped significantly, and I clean them myself less often, too. Even so, my floors have stayed very clean.

Back when I did the cleaning myself, my back would hurt whenever I cleaned under the couch. I also had to sweep and mop separately, so I couldn’t bring myself to clean every day.

The unit itself is very slim, so it can clean under the couch and in other spaces with enough clearance.

I Leave Mopping and Mop Washing to It and Control It Through the App

I don’t just use it to vacuum up dust; I also use the mopping feature to wipe up sticky residue and other grime from the floor. I leave washing the mop afterward to its automatic mop-washing feature.

It washes the mop with hot water, then dries it with warm air. In my use, the mop hasn’t gotten smelly either.

Dust is collected in the automatic dust box, which I swap out when the app notifies me. Then all I have to do is toss the accumulated debris in the trash; there’s nothing else I need to do.

Best of all, it has a feature that recognizes carpet and doesn’t mop it, which is very nice.

If I realize I haven’t cleaned today, I can start it remotely with a single tap in the app, even when I’m out or at work. It’s a really handy feature.

For families with a baby, I imagine floor cleaning is always on their minds because something gets spilled or drool ends up on the floor. My guess is that if it did a regular clean on the daily schedule, that would be a help on the hygiene front too.

Summary

For me, the robot vacuum handles everything from mopping and washing the mop to dust collection. I spend less time cleaning the floors myself and do it less often, but they stay clean. When I realize I haven’t cleaned the floors, I use the app to start it while I’m away. For daily floor cleaning, I set a schedule and let it clean regularly.
